Yes, so I got myself another H&M Makeup Precision Sponge. Quite a while ago I got the white one and have really been enjoying using that so I thought that a black one would be a good addition especially as it would look stained less than anything that is white coloured.
This H&M precision sponge is smaller and less bulky than the white counterpart. It also feels a little bit more stiff even after expanding once soaked with water. After trying to use it for a foundation application I realised that I much prefer this for blending out concealer, highlight and contour much more. Because it is thinner it fits in well into all the crevices and face lines where you need to be more precise.
Again, for the price of few quid you can’t complain about this makeup sponge. H&M you really know your game!
My love for Korean products must be known by now. They are well into their skincare and I am more than keen to try their products. A new brand that I have found is called TooCoolForSchool. Even if they would not be a Korean brand I would have bought something from them just because of their name. I mean common! TooCoolForSchool!!! Yes!
I use this mask at nights and apply a pea sized amount all over my face. The pumpkin mask comes out white and has more of a gel like texture than a cream texture. You don’t need a massive amount to spread it over your face so you know you are saving quite a bit of money as you will not use it up that quickly. The sleeping mask has a very slight scent but it’s just about there and goes away in less than a minute. It applies on smoothly and I think that it sinks in into the skin much faster than the Origins Drink Up mask and also it is less sticky than the Origins one.
The mask contains hyaluronic acid to moisturise your skin & pumpkin enzyme to remove any dead skin cells and make your skin glow as new.
I have found myself using this more and more often. I think I have started applying it instead of a night time moisturiser every other night. I cannot get enough of it! I think it is worth getting this mask. If you are an oily/combination or dry skin person I think this would work for you.
I like to find affordable makeup gems. I get such a satisfaction when I find products that are really great and don’t cost too much so I like to smooch in Boots or Superdrug every now and then in an attempt to find that new gem. When I saw a little bottle of a new brow gel by Natural Collection I straight away snapped it.
I got a Natural Collection Brow Gel in Dark Brown and tried it on myself the next day. I was so excited but from step one it did not go well for me. Firstly, the bottle is tiny so I have expected the brush to be tiny too but it is not. It is smaller than a mascara wand but only by tiny bit so it is still too big for brows. It’s that big that it just smeared the gel all around by brows even though I tried to comb them as carefully as possible. Trying to clean up that smearing also made me take off my foundation as the product would not remove nicely. I was so upset but told myself that maybe it’s just a first day mishap therefore I have tried using again the next day. Guess what? Same things happened. The colour is ok but everything else has not worked out for me and I am very sad about it. I thought that finally we will have a great eyebrow gel that you can get everywhere in UK and is affordable.
I am not a fan of this Natural Collection Brow Gel and would not recomend it to anybody. If anyone has tried this and liked it let me know why and what do you do to make it work for you.
I was quite excited to have found out that Beauty Bay stocks LA Girl products on their site. That of course has led me to a haul straight away because come on! Who is not keen to try US products that you have heard so much about?
I picked up mainly lip products and a concealer. I heard that LA Girl does them pretty well. I chose two LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints & two different matte lip products – a matte lipstick and a matte liquid lipstick. And of course I got the famous Pro Conceal concealer.
I look forward to writing up in-depth reviews for those. Do you guys have a preference on what I should review first?
In my last Superdrug haul I have mentioned that I have picked up a Korean inspired product – an Essence Lotion from the brand B.
Now that I have used it for quite a few weeks I can give you my impression upon it. The product looks like I have not used it at all though I have been applying it nearly every day. Because you only need 3 to 4 drops on your palms you end up using very little of it. If you are on a budget that’s a good thing because the product will last you for a long while. As I said, you put the drops into your palms rather than a cotton pad and then tap it onto your face & neck area. I must say that I still don’t know what the benefit of it is. Ok, let me correct myself, I do know what it is supposed to do because I can use search engines, other blogs & read but I don’t feel like it’s doing anything which would make me question myself how I did my skincare without it. B. Essence Lotion option is very well priced so I don’t feel like I have waisted my money at all, I still think that if anyone would like to try an essence then this is the one to go for because it is really affordable.
Honestly, I was well up trying an essence because I know that Korean skincare inspired products are one of the best out there but I really not sure if this is really needed. Maybe I need to use it for even longer time than I have to have any benefit. Or maybe this is the best example of a product that you do not need and it is made purely by companies to profit from you.
What do you guys think? Have you tried an essence? Where do you stand in all of it?
When Revlon came out with Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in UK I ran to the shops. I started swatching every single colour and honestly there and then got a bit disappointed. All of the swatches were rubbing off my hand and smearing all over the place. I was unsure if I should bother spending my money on them but for some reason I did purchase one of the HD Matte Lipcolors and I can tell you that I am glad I did that.
The Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor I picked up is in colour Devotion. (Or I think it is because it does not say anywhere on the packaging. I think that the name was on the wrapper which has been frown away the first instance I took it off). It’s a beautiful rosey pink colour which I think is a great as ‘that pop’ for everyday.
I realised that when I was swatching these in the shop I put a lot of product on my hands and that was a mistake. If you apply them in a thin layer and add more as you need you ensure that you don’t have too much which prevents from any smearing. I must say that I have not had an issue with this product moving around so it’s much better on the lips than I thought it would be. It is not a liquid lipstick, I warn you! This is a matt lipgloss so this will not stay put all day but it does stain your lips so even when the product is no longer on your lips you still have some colour very nicely showing up. Because this is a matte product you do get a tiny bit of drying on your lips but nothing as bad as it would be with a liquid lipstick.
Since having Devotion I have noticed that I have been reaching more and more for it. Especially when I’m a bit in a rush it’s so easy to apply and go. It works with most of the makeup looks and stayed on the lips long enough. If you don’t enjoy full on liquid lipsticks then give this a try because this is a great hybrid that I prefer very much.
Have you guys tried any of the Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor glosses? What do you think about them?
You know when you’re smooching in a shop and you spot something and think to yourself “why not give this a try, can’t hurt me anyways cause it’s not that expensive”, no? Just me? Well, that’s what happened when I was in H&M recently. I was looking at their makeup range which a lot of people have rated as quite good but my curiosity was turned on when I saw their Precision Sponge makeup applicator on the shelve. I have been converted to applying my foundation and concealer with wet makeup sponge and therefore I am quite keen to try and find the best ones that are out there right now.
H&M Precision Sponge costs only £2 so that’s a first bonus. It’s the cheapest makeup up sponge applicator that I have tried so far. You use it the same way as you would do any other Beautyblender type products, rinse it under water, squeeze out any access water and you good to go. I find that the sponge is quite on a harder feel, meaning that it’s not super bouncy which does remind me of Beautyblender quite a bit. I thought that the colour white was a bad choice for this product as it obviously get’s makeup stains upon the first time you use it but when I have washed the sponge it pretty much got rid of most of the stains straight away (unlike the more expensive counter part) and that impressed me. I don’t think it will stay stainless for long but then none of the other sponges did as well.
If you like applying makeup with sponges or you would like to try then I’d say definitely give H&M Precision Sponge a go. I mean, it’s only £2!
Since I have watched Liza Eldridge video with Rosie Huntignton-Whiteley (this one) I wanted to see the new makeup range that M&S where bringing out with Rosie. I popped into my local M&S store the other weekend to just snoop around the makeup isles, as you do, and to actually see what items Rosie’s line for Autograph contained. I did not expect to like anything at all and for sure I did not expect to leave the shop with a new item in my bag.
Firstly, my local M&S beauty section is not the nicest one. I find that it’s not always very well stocked and it’s quite messy so most of the times I just don’t usually shop there. When I saw where Rosie for Autograph products were kept and how they were displayed my first instinct was to turn around and walk away because it just looked quite messy, over all everything looked like a bunch of items that are overpriced for what they actually are. A lot of the stuff was also not in stock which always is a bit of a shame. I am fairly glad I did not go by my first feeling and stayed to touch and swatch the products.
The packaging for this line is really beautiful. I think that the choice of rose gold is on point with current trends and do make the products look luxurious. The black with rose gold accents on the outer packaging makes you think that something exciting lurks inside and when you come to take out the items from the inside it’s as if you get to retrieve pieces of gold. The products look really nice and anyone would gladly have them on display on their vanities. The price point is towards higher end and I would say they are just only a tiny bit cheaper than MAC but by no means I would call it an affordable line. If a lipstick costs £14 then to me this is a luxury item.
As I said, I just wanted to get the feel of the products and was not going to buy anything but once I swatched Rosie for Autograph Cream Eyeshadow sticks I did not need even a second to know that I was not going to leave the place without one of those babies in my hands. I think there are 4 shades in the line and the one I choose to purchase was the shade Movie Star Crush. I would have said that it was a hard choice between the four especially as I normally go for the bronzy shades but once I swatched it I knew it’s love at first site. Movie Star Crush is a shimmery purple colour with definite brown undertones. It glides super smoothly on the eyes and blends like a dream. The staying power is really good. I have swatched it at few occasions and each time when I washed my hands the swatches were still very promintent. I had to really scrub to get them off my hands. Honestly, Movie Star Crush feels like a full on high end product and I can tell you that I will be writing a comparison post to another high end product because it is so similar to *** (wait for another post).
I am currently obsessed with Rosie for Autograph Cream Eyeshadow and have been wearing it every single day for the past week since I have bought it. I am petrified that if this is a limited edition product then I might need to quickly buy some back ups as I don’t know how I would be without it now. For the price of £12.50 it’s an amazing product and I urge you to run, no, sprint to your local M&S beauty departments and get your hands on it, especially the shade Movie Star Crush.
I am more than half way through my current face wash and I have realised that I have not yet written about it in the blog. I have been using Una Brennans Super Facialist range and the face wash of choice is the Vitamin C+ Brighten Gentle Daily Micro Polish Wash ( what the name! Phew!)
I have used Una Brennans products before, mainly masks, so when I was looking for an inexpensive face wash I thought that it will not hurt if I try her face wash this time.
Super Facialist Vitamin C+ face wash comes in the same tube style as her masks. I like the design as you can squeeze out as much product as you need and you have all of the control. I even like the orange colour of the bottle as it nicely stands out on my shelves. The actual wash is also yellow and quite bright which I love. Imagine coming home after a long day at work when it’s still cold outside and pouring some sunshine into your hands. Vitamin C+ face wash does have a slight citrusy smell but it’s not too strong and the longer you use it the less of the fragrance you will get (that’s good in my books as I don’t tend to like any scents in my face skincare). I use this Unna Brennans wash as my second cleanse in the evenings and have been quite enjoying it as it’s such an easy product to use. It does have very tiny micro granules which are meant for exfoliating skin and I must say that in my books the face wash would be improved by not having them there. The granules are not super abrasive but as someone who has sensitive skin I just know that they are pretty much unnecessary and unwanted. I cannot comment how much brightness does it provide with the vitamin c inclusion as the product stays in your skin for such a short period of time before washing off. But it is a wash that does not strip your skin dry and never leaves your skin dirty or quenching for hydration.
Overall Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Daily Micro Polish Wash is a very good cleanser and I would no doubt by it again, especially if they get rid of the granules from the wash.
Have you tried any Unna Brennans products? If yes, what have you tried and what do you think of the products?
