H&M Makeup Haul Review

In my last post I have talked about a makeup haul that I did. I have picked up a few bits from H&M to try out. Now that I have used the products I can tell you what I think of them.

I have got 2 H&M nail polishes and so far I have been enjoying wearing them. They don’t last on me super long but they don’t chip super quick either, just an ordinary lasting power. Pearl Bisque is a pearlescent white and I really like it for this time of the year. It’s got that holiday sheen and is not a stark white. Purple Aurora (pictured above) is a duochrome purple with a hint of metallic green.  I’m not sure if the duochrome effect translates once the nail polish is on the nails but I think it is still a nice colour.

I really like creamy liquid like eyeshadows so when I saw H&M Fluid Hues Eye Colour I knew I had to give it a try and I can tell you that it’s love. These are very pigmented & stay on the eyelids for the whole day. You need to work with them fairly fast cause once they set they do set.  You can use your fingers to blend out if you fancy so it makes it a very easy use eyeshadow. The colour I got is Shifting Sands which is a beautiful light bronze.

I have to admit that I have not had time to try the H&M Treasured Eye Gems but I can’t wait to find the perfect occasion to whip these babies out.

Overall I am very impressed with the H&M makeup and I think that they are great purchases. I am now thinking that maybe I should go and get some more items from them. If you have tried anything let me know how stuff worked for you.

Travel Friendly Eyeshadow Combo

I don’t know how about you guys but I find myself quite often doing my makeup somewhere else but home. Because of that, I try to take with myself makeup that will not smash, break or spill. I have been really enjoying eyeshadow pencils to take away as they are easy to carry and use.

The two pencils that I reach for quite often for my ‘take-away’ makeup up are Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow in Rose Fauviste & Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in Hot Chocolate. I use Rose Fauviste all over my lid and then I add Hot Chocolate to my outer corners. No brushes needed, I just use my finger to blend everything out and voila! Super quick, super easy and great when you are on the go.

If you find yourself often staying somewhere else (maybe at your other half home) or like me, you cycle into work and change there then try eyeshadow pencils for your eye makeup. It will save you lots of time, space and energy.

Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pain Review

I like various lip products but my favourite must be hybrids between lipsticks and lipglosses. I like to have an opaque colour on and at the same time I like the product to apply easily, stay on well enough and not dry my lips. Therefore it is not a surprise that when I saw Maybelline Color Drama Lip Paints on the shop shelves I have picked some up.

Maybelline claims that these lip products have an intense colour and they do not lie. These are one of the best pigmented glosses I have ever used. I call them glosses as they are not straight liquid lipstick, as such, they apply easily and they do stain your lips a little bit so when wearing off they do that evenly. Color Drama Lip Paints are super easy to use and to wear. I have two colours Stripped Down which is a very nice nude and Fight Me Fuchsia which does not need explanation. Normally I am not a bright colour wearer and when I was buying these I thought that Fight Me Fuchsia is going to be a waste of my money but I was quite wrong. I love it! I have worn it on a night out, I have worn it to work and I think it’s a bright colour that you can pull off for any occasion. I also keep reaching for Stripped Down whenever I am getting ready for work and have no time to think what lip colour would work, it goes well with any look.

I am very impressed with this new Maybelline release and I know for sure I will be using these up and getting new ones when time comes. Have you tried Color Drama Lip Paints? What do you think?

TooCoolForSchool Pumpkin sleeping pack review

My love for Korean products must be known by now. They are well into their skincare and I am more than keen to try their products. A new brand that I have found is called TooCoolForSchool. Even if they would not be a Korean brand I would have bought something from them just because of their name. I mean common! TooCoolForSchool!!! Yes!

I use this mask at nights and apply a pea sized amount all over my face. The pumpkin mask comes out white and has more of a gel like texture than a cream texture. You don’t need a massive amount to spread it over your face so you know you are saving quite a bit of money as you will not use it up that quickly. The sleeping mask has a very slight scent but it’s just about there and goes away in less than a minute. It applies on smoothly and I think that it sinks in into the skin much faster than the Origins Drink Up mask and also it is less sticky than the Origins one.

The mask contains hyaluronic acid to moisturise your skin & pumpkin enzyme to remove any dead skin cells and make your skin glow as new.

I have found myself using this more and more often. I think I have started applying it instead of a night time moisturiser every other night. I cannot get enough of it! I think it is worth getting this mask. If you are an oily/combination or dry skin person I think this would work for you.

Natural Collection Brow Gel Review

I like to find affordable makeup gems. I get such a satisfaction when I find products that are really great and don’t cost too much so I like to smooch in Boots or Superdrug every now and then in an attempt to find that new gem. When I saw a little bottle of a new brow gel by Natural Collection I straight away snapped it.

I got a Natural Collection Brow Gel in Dark Brown and tried it on myself the next day. I was so excited but from step one it did not go well for me. Firstly, the bottle is tiny so I have expected the brush to be tiny too but it is not. It is smaller than a mascara wand but only by tiny bit so it is still too big for brows. It’s that big that it just smeared the gel all around by brows even though I tried to comb them as carefully as possible. Trying to clean up that smearing also made me take off my foundation as the product would not remove nicely. I was so upset but told myself that maybe it’s just a first day mishap therefore I have tried using again the next day. Guess what? Same things happened. The colour is ok but everything else has not worked out for me and I am very sad about it. I thought that finally we will have a great eyebrow gel that you can get everywhere in UK and is affordable.

I am not a fan of this Natural Collection Brow Gel and would not recomend it to anybody. If anyone has tried this and liked it let me know why and what do you do to make it work for you.

New No7 Advert

Not often I watch TV and stop myself to think about the adverts that I see on it. But when I saw the new No7 advert for some reason I was kindly taken away by it. For one, it is nice to see a real ballerina representing a makeup/skincare brand. For me it is a different kind of level when real people with real skills get to be brand ambassadors. It was also nice to see a grown up, mature woman who is shown as strong as she always have been. Nothing to do with trying to look like a twenty year old. I cannot explain but I really like this advert and I really appreciate that No7 have chosen to promote their products this way.

Have you guys seen their new advert and what are your thoughts about it?

An Empty Affair – July Empties 2016

I know that we are just entering July and an empties post for the month is supposed to be at the end of it but I have been gathering some empty products packaging for a while and I just wanted to get rid of them now rather than waiting till the end of the month. Once one realises that you have rubbish gathering around your house there is nothing else I want to do as to get rid of it. So here is what I have reached the bottoms of:

Boots Build Up Removal Expert Shampoo – I have bought this one for when I need a super clarifying shampoo. I have never tried Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo so I cannot compare but this did do a good job. It’s cheap and works all right. I’m not sure if I will be buying again any time soon but if I’m on a super tight budget then I’ll give this a go again.

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil – the best cleansing oil on the market which is also very well priced. This is my second bottle that I have finished and I know it will not be a last one.

Tresemme Perfectly Undone Sea Foam – the first time I tried this product I quite liked it but I have not used it that much. I took this bottle with me on a holiday and on the way back it managed to open itself and spill all of itself in the suitcase. I must say because this has annoyed me so much I kind of not will be buying it. In my experience it is not travel friendly when I thought it would be.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix pads – I liked using them and I have moved on to it’s sister product the Extreme night version.

Jo Malone perfume in Peony & Suede – I got this as a present and appreciated very much for the memories but I must say that I do not understand the hype around Jo Malone whatsoever.  The scent fades on me in a minute and that is just a no no for me. I wear perfume so that I could smell the scent myself and if it does not stay with me then I do not see the point of it. I will not be buying or asking for Jo Malone perfumes whatsoever.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – one of my favourite bases that are affordable and really nice. Once I lower down the amount of other bases I have going I will get this again.

Yes To Coconut Hand Cream – I love coconut scented products so this went down very well. It’s a tiny bit too heavy for my liking but then I really like super quick absorbent creams and the lighter the better for me.

Maria Nila Pure Volume Shampoo – loved, loved, loved this shampoo. Need to get another bottle of this.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Oat Body Lotion – this lotion is a bit heavier than other lotions I have used before. It does take a minute or more to get absorbed but I love the scent of it. Also it was nice to have it in a pump form for quick and convenient use.

Johnson’s Baby Spray Conditioner – a great detangler for your hair. Not much to say about it apart from it’s good to pick it up if you need a detangler.

Taaj Micellar Water – I wanted to try some other micellar water and when I saw this big bottle in TKMaxx I thought here we go. It is not better than Bioderma so I will not be buying it again (saying that I paid half the price than Bioderma).

Phew! I am quite happy to have finished some products. I am trying to somehow downscale on everything so happy to get rid of some bottles and make more space. Have you guys tried any of these products?

NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Extreme Night Pads Review

It has been a while since my little Superdrug haul so I feel I can now comfortably write a review of NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme as I had some time to be properly using them.

These glycolic pads are meant for exfoliating your skin. As someone who has sensitive skin the word “extreme” was quite off putting for me and I was quite afraid that the toner which the pads are soaked in will be too harsh on my skin. I can now tell you that this is not the case and I have not had any sensitivity issues whatsoever. The pads have a slight grapefruit scent which I actually really like and every time I use them I always think how nice the smell is. I feel like these NIP+FAB pads work quite well in exfoliating the skin, they are easy to use as they are already pre-soaked and they do not dry out in the tub. I use them two or three times a week to keep any dead skin away and it works like a treat.

If you are looking for an exfoliating toner and you love easy to use things then get the Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme. I don’t think you can go wrong and the price range is quite good. (Look out when they are on a discount!)

B. Essence Lotion Review

In my last Superdrug haul I have mentioned that I have picked up a Korean inspired product – an Essence Lotion from the brand B.

Now that I have used it for quite a few weeks I can give you my impression upon it. The product looks like I have not used it at all though I have been applying it nearly every day. Because you only need 3 to 4 drops on your palms you end up using very little of it. If you are on a budget that’s a good thing because the product will last you for a long while. As I said, you put the drops into your palms rather than a cotton pad and then tap it onto your face & neck area. I must say that I still don’t know what the benefit of it is. Ok, let me correct myself, I do know what it is supposed to do because I can use search engines, other blogs & read but I don’t feel like it’s doing anything which would make me question myself how I did my skincare without it. B. Essence Lotion option is very well priced so I don’t feel like I have waisted my money at all, I still think that if anyone would like to try an essence then this is the one to go for because it is really affordable.

Honestly, I was well up trying an essence because I know that Korean skincare inspired products are one of the best out there but I really not sure if this is really needed. Maybe I need to use it for even longer time than I have to have any benefit. Or maybe this is the best example of a product that you do not need and it is made purely by companies to profit from you.

What do you guys think? Have you tried an essence? Where do you stand in all of it?

Small Superdrug Haul

My favourite pastime is to pop around to shops that sell makeup/skincare and just browse. I always say that I don’t need anything, I’m just having a look but I somehow always manage most of the times to leave with something in my hands. Do you do that too?

I saw that NIP + FAB had been reduced in pricing so I picked up Glycolic Fix Night Pad Extreme as I saw Caroline Hirons mentioning them a few times. If she uses them then it must be good. I quite prefer to use soaked pads as they are just easier to grab and use.

I have a keen interest with Korean skincare and I thought that it would be interesting to try an essence. I saw that B. brand had one called B. Refreshed Essence Lotion which was very affordable so I picked that up.

I have also picked up a B. Moisture Gel because gel moisturisers in an affordable price are still a bit rare. I actually ran out of my previous gel moisturiser so when I saw this I thought that it would be a nice new product to try.

3 new skincare products that I have hauled from Superdrug on one of my “I’ll just going to have a look” days.

What have you guys hauled recently?
