Travel Friendly Eyeshadow Combo

I don’t know how about you guys but I find myself quite often doing my makeup somewhere else but home. Because of that, I try to take with myself makeup that will not smash, break or spill. I have been really enjoying eyeshadow pencils to take away as they are easy to carry and use.

The two pencils that I reach for quite often for my ‘take-away’ makeup up are Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow in Rose Fauviste & Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in Hot Chocolate. I use Rose Fauviste all over my lid and then I add Hot Chocolate to my outer corners. No brushes needed, I just use my finger to blend everything out and voila! Super quick, super easy and great when you are on the go.

If you find yourself often staying somewhere else (maybe at your other half home) or like me, you cycle into work and change there then try eyeshadow pencils for your eye makeup. It will save you lots of time, space and energy.

An Empty Affair – July Empties 2016

I know that we are just entering July and an empties post for the month is supposed to be at the end of it but I have been gathering some empty products packaging for a while and I just wanted to get rid of them now rather than waiting till the end of the month. Once one realises that you have rubbish gathering around your house there is nothing else I want to do as to get rid of it. So here is what I have reached the bottoms of:

Boots Build Up Removal Expert Shampoo – I have bought this one for when I need a super clarifying shampoo. I have never tried Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo so I cannot compare but this did do a good job. It’s cheap and works all right. I’m not sure if I will be buying again any time soon but if I’m on a super tight budget then I’ll give this a go again.

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil – the best cleansing oil on the market which is also very well priced. This is my second bottle that I have finished and I know it will not be a last one.

Tresemme Perfectly Undone Sea Foam – the first time I tried this product I quite liked it but I have not used it that much. I took this bottle with me on a holiday and on the way back it managed to open itself and spill all of itself in the suitcase. I must say because this has annoyed me so much I kind of not will be buying it. In my experience it is not travel friendly when I thought it would be.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix pads – I liked using them and I have moved on to it’s sister product the Extreme night version.

Jo Malone perfume in Peony & Suede – I got this as a present and appreciated very much for the memories but I must say that I do not understand the hype around Jo Malone whatsoever.  The scent fades on me in a minute and that is just a no no for me. I wear perfume so that I could smell the scent myself and if it does not stay with me then I do not see the point of it. I will not be buying or asking for Jo Malone perfumes whatsoever.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – one of my favourite bases that are affordable and really nice. Once I lower down the amount of other bases I have going I will get this again.

Yes To Coconut Hand Cream – I love coconut scented products so this went down very well. It’s a tiny bit too heavy for my liking but then I really like super quick absorbent creams and the lighter the better for me.

Maria Nila Pure Volume Shampoo – loved, loved, loved this shampoo. Need to get another bottle of this.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Oat Body Lotion – this lotion is a bit heavier than other lotions I have used before. It does take a minute or more to get absorbed but I love the scent of it. Also it was nice to have it in a pump form for quick and convenient use.

Johnson’s Baby Spray Conditioner – a great detangler for your hair. Not much to say about it apart from it’s good to pick it up if you need a detangler.

Taaj Micellar Water – I wanted to try some other micellar water and when I saw this big bottle in TKMaxx I thought here we go. It is not better than Bioderma so I will not be buying it again (saying that I paid half the price than Bioderma).

Phew! I am quite happy to have finished some products. I am trying to somehow downscale on everything so happy to get rid of some bottles and make more space. Have you guys tried any of these products?

June Favourites 2015

The month of June has seen me switching some products up but at the same time sticking to some of which I know will be repurchased for ever. This time it was not hard to choose products that I have loved in the past month. Here they are:

L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in Dark Brunette – The best brow product on the market right now! It tints the brows but also holds their shape. The applicator is small enough so it is easy to use and it never picks up too much product therefore you don’t have to be afraid that you will end up with the hard crispy brows. I love this brow tint and will soon be buying another one as I am running out.

Hydraluron Moisture Jelly – I find that gel type moisturisers are the best for me because I have a combination skin and I also really don’t like when my skin feels very greasy and slippy which a lot of rich moisturisers do. This is a great option for a morning moisturiser, it is full of hyaluronic acid that helps skin to retain moisture better. Though my skin is a combination skin it is also a dehydrated one so it definitely needs moisture and this product provides just that. I like this one more than the Hydraluron Moisture Serum. If you ever tried the serum and did not like the stickiness that it leaves then give this a shot as it is much better in my opinion.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder – there is not much that one can say about a powder but this one is truly great. One of the best powders that I have used and it is super affordable. I really like this one and I have recently hit the pan (super exciting!) and that just shows how much I have enjoyed using it.

Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Light – In the past few weeks the weather has been getting a little bit better and bringing some proper summer to our shores. I have found that my daily bases were too heavy for my liking so I opted to swap them with the BB creams that I’ve got. I find that Rimmel offer is really great especially when it gets hot. Because it is matte it helps to keep the skin from getting too shiny too quickly. It does not cover everything but paired with a concealer it is pretty great. It feels light on the skin and with a bit of powder on top it is a great summer base. One thing to warn you about that the shade Light is not that light in reality. I can wear it only when I have a little bit of a tan so if you are a very fair person it might not suit you.

Bourjois Bronzing Primer – I have been enjoying using this as a bronzer again. It warms up the skin very beautifully and because it is a cream product it blends out pretty well. Seems like I always pick up Bourjois Bronzing Primer when it gets warm and I am always surprised how nice it is.

Real Techiniques Countour Brush – this brush is from the latest released kit and I have found it to be great for applying cream bronzers such as the one above. It is shaped to fall into your natural hollows of your face but it is firm enough to blend any product seamlessly. I have seen some other people using it for foundation application which I haven’t tried yet but might do one day.

These are my June favourites. I look forward to seeing what the next month will bring on. If you have used any of the mentioned products let me know what you think about them and if you know of any good alternatives then also give a shout out.

Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow

The first time I saw talks about Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow sticks was actually on Twitter. I saw a post a post from @danielsandler saying that they are great and that post made me want them straight away. I like “chubby” sticks type of eye shadows for their convenience and ease so I knew that Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow sticks where right up my street.

I have purchased two colours Rose Fauviste and Brun Dadaiste. I have worn Rose Fauviste the most out of the two as you might already know from my January faves post and I can only say that it is a beautiful pink shade that actually really brightens your eyes and makes them look bigger. I have been paring it up with a black liner and it looks so beautiful in the date time. Chick and understated. It’s super quick to apply so I like to use it when I have to go to work, you just swipe the product all over your eye lids (apply liner on if you want to) and off you go.

I’m surprised that I haven’t worn Brun Dadaiste that much as I normally gravitate towards brown coppery shades and it is truly a beautiful one. You do have to blend it quickly though because when it sets, it sets, so I suggest to do one eye at a time. The good thing about it is that it will not crease and will stay put throughout the day. That’s exactly what working people need.

The only little downside that I must tell you is that for some reason Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow sticks swatch better on your hand than on your eyes. What I’m trying to say is that the colour and pigmentation always look better on your hand when swatched and they don’t come out exactly the same on the eyes. So you do need to use a bit more product and it might not look as “punchy” as you first think they would but let that not discourage you from trying them out.

I don’t think that I would be picking any other colours from the range but I do highly recommend Rose Fauviste and Brun Dadaiste. They are fast becoming my daily to go to shadows for the ease of use and the staying power.

Have you tried any of the Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow sticks? What do you think about them? Let me know if there are any other good alternatives in the highstreet.

Current Favourite Lip Combination

My last post was about my January Favourites and somehow I totally forgot to add lip items to it. So I thought to myself that maybe a separate post would be welcomed as I truly believe that these two items are meant for each other.

For the past month and a couple of weeks I have been wearing Gosh lip liner in 001 Nougat Crisp and Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick in 04 Rose Tweed.

Firstly, Gosh lip liners are amazing! If you are a Mac lip liner kinda gal then please do give these a go. Their texture is somewhat better than Macs, they are less drying, easier to apply and not to forget less than half the price. Yes, the colour range is not that big but you can find a few liners that are definitely worth a spot in your make up drawers. One of those colours is Nougat Crisp. It’s a muted brownish pink that really falls under ‘that girls who everyone is talking about but I don’t want to mention the name’ category. It’s just beautiful, I can wear it on it’s own, under any nude lipstick which before was slightly not the right colour for me or with any pink toned lip item, be it a gloss or a lipstick. It just works wonders.

Now secondly, if you have not tried Bourjois Rouge Edition lipsticks then I again urge you to try one of them out. They are not matte so if you are on the matte trend then they might not work for you but if you are like me and like your lipsticks to be moisturising then these are definitely made for you. Rose Tweed is a muted pink lipstick which is just beautiful on it’s own. Please ignore my swatch which makes this lipstick look like it has shimmer as I assure you there is no shimmer involved in it. (I think I had eye shadow swatched before and did not do a good job of removing it properly.) When I got Rose Tweed first I think I was wearing it for many days consecutively without a stop until something else caught my interests.

Putting these two lip products was a great day for me. I just could not believe how they compliment each other. This combo is just great for ‘that trend’ as well as it still keeps it pink enough not to make you look like you’re from the 90s. I am very happy to have found these two and I think I will be seen wearing them for many more days.

What lip combinations have you been loving lately? Have you found your perfect match?

January Favourites 2015

January has come and gone… Good riddance – I will say! My body and mind is shouting ‘bring on the sunshine be done with cold!’. With this passed month I present you items that have been mostly used, mostly enjoyed and that have impressed me, well quite mostly. So let’s go:

No7 Stay Perfect Foundation – I’ve got the colour ‘Warm Ivory’ and it’s a perfect match to my skin colour at the moment. When I bought this foundation in summer I just did not get along with it. I felt like it melted away super quickly and I ended up regretting buying it. But not any more… This is a perfect foundation for me to be used in winter time when I need something a little bit more dewy. It’s super light in texture and very comfortable on the skin, if I powder it straight away after application it stays on for most of the day and just makes me look healthy. I have fallen for this foundation and I am so glad that I have found my winter option. When we will hit warmer weather I won’t be able to wear this but will definitely get back to it when it will get cooler again (and of course continue using it for now).

Vichy Dermablend Loose Powder – This is the powder that I have been using to set No7 Stay Perfect Foundation and all I can say that it is lovely. You can’t put too much of it and you can’t really detect it on your face. A good winner in my books.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush – I have re-discovered this brush in my collection and have really been enjoying using it with lighter, more liquid-y foundations. It’s a great all rounder brush.

Becca Radiance Primer – I wrote a post about Becca Radiance Primer a few weeks ago so you if you want to find what I thought about and why it’s in my favourites then you can go and see this post here.

Kiko Eye Base Primer – This is a great budget eye primer and I have been using it every single time I have applied any eye shadow. I have even included this primer in my 2014 Favourites as I have never seen such a good primer that comes from an affordable make up brand.

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner – The colour that I’ve got is called ‘Oscar Fish’ which is a really quaint lovely name, don’t you think?. I have found that this is a great product to smudge out under your lower lash line and because it’s not black you can wear it any time of the day without looking too harsh.

Bourjois Colorband Liner & Eyeshadow – I have been really enjoying using this newly released item in the colour ‘Rose Fauviste’. It’s a really nice shade of pink and because it’s in a pencil form it is super easy to apply onto your eyelids. I think I will have a full on post about these Colorband sticks soon so watch this space.

Here you go, these were my January Favourites. What have you been loving in the past month? What has carried you through the gloomy month of Jan?

Favourite Foundation: Bourjois CC Cream

Please welcome one of my most favourite foundations. This is one of two foundations that I love, trust and reach for mostly.

Bourjois 123 CC Cream has come into my life six months ago. The first time I bought it I actually got it in a colour which was way too dark for my skin. (I do struggle with matching myself to foundations. Quite a bit actually…) But a few months ago I have decided to get the CC cream again in what I think is the lightest shade 32. And oh my I was happy! Bourjois 123 CC cream is a yellow toned foundation which works well with my skin tone. It has a slightly runny formula but this means that it blends easily and when you’re in a rush to get to work it’s a definite one to go for. I know they call it a cc cream and it does feel light on the skin but it gives more coverage than your average bb/cc cream would do. I actually really appreciate that as from my previous post about foundations I do want good coverage.

I haven’t been using it for many years or even months but I must say that it has become one of the most loved bases that I have tried. And to be honest I do wear it most of the days that’s how nice it is.

The most palest girls probably should be carefull with it as the lightest shade is not that light but if you do find that the colour suits you then definitely get one for yourselves!

Have you ever tried Bourjois 123 CC Cream? Or would you have any other foundations to recommend? Let me know!

Current Favourites

Let us start this blog with introducing my things that have impressed me or reminded me about themselves. I always like to see other peoples favourites and I thought what would be the best way to start if not by what I have loved in the past few weeks.

Rimmel Moisture Reniew lipstic in Latino – a beautiful, simple pink (simple in a good way). I find it’s great for wearing in a day time or to work. It is a little bit frosty but nothing that cannot be removed by a gloss on top.

Olay Complete Care moisturiser – This one is for normal to oily skin and it’s so light and quick absorbent that I really like using it under my make up. When I replaced my previous moisturised that I used with this one it felt such a big difference that I was even questioning how could I used something more heavy than this before. Oh and it has an SPF too – very good when going into summer (if we ever have one).

Bourjois Bronzing primer – I had this since last summer and loved using it when I just got it. Then of course I’ve moved on to other interesting bits until few weeks ago I dug it out into the daylight again. I use it as a bronzer rather than a primer and it’s just grrrrrreat. It leaves my face looking like I have seen sun and was not stuck to my laptop for end of days. I’m not decided yet but I might think that cream bronzers look more natural than powder ones. (Well at least they do last longer on your skin, that’s for sure).

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot setting powder – It’s a translucent setting powder which I am using and will be using until I finish it. It does not show up on your skin too much and it sets my make up quite well. (Can you say much more about setting powder?)

Do you have any favourites that you reach for at the moments non-stop? Let me know! I’m very curious.
