December Makeup Empties

The third post of my empties involves makeup products. Can you believe I have finished all of these?! Technically there are a few disappointing products that I am chucking away but most of them as you can see are properly empty things.

Eyeko Fat Brush Mascara – a mascara that did nothing to my lashes. If you like no makeup makeup maybe this one is for you but even if I have very minimal makeup on I want my lashes to stand out so I want my mascara to work for me. I think I am never going to get another Eyeko mascara as I have always been disappointed with them.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – one of my favourite concealers. It’s an amazing product and very affordable. I will for sure get this again.

Eylure Brow Pencil in Dark Brown – I love this eyebrow pencil. It’s hard but not too hard, does not drag on your skin and leaves enough product. It has a spooly on another end so you always have something to brush your brows with. The pencil has lasted quite long so if you want to buy something that you don’t need to re-purchase too quickly then I recommend this brow pencil.

Essence Brow Gel – one of my faves! I will dedicate a post for this product on it’s own. It’s that good!

Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner – A great eyeliner, easy to use and is jet black matte.

Gosh Lip Oil – a very interesting lip moisturiser. I’m not sure how hydrating it really was but I loved the texture of the product and kept using it up just because of that.

Bodyshop Honey Bronze Drops – I really liked using this in summer. Not sure if it did give me much of a bronzed look but then I did use it all up, so maybe it did do what it was saying it would?

L’Oreal Slim Line Eyeliner – I liked this felt tip eyeliner, it was black, stayed well on my eyes and very easy to use.

EX1 Invisiwear Foundation in F100 – this is one of my favourite foundations and I wore it on my wedding day. I already have another tube of this magic in my stash.

L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist – a good highstreet makeup fixing mist. Good choice when on a budget which I normally am on.

Vichy Dermablend Translucent Powder – I cannot believe that I have used this up. Has anyone ever used up a big tub of translucent powder? I enjoyed using this and even more happy that I have finished it (only because I want to try other things)

L’Oreal Miss Hippy Mascara – one of my most favourite mascaras. It makes your lashes voluminous and dark. This was my mascara choice for my wedding and I need another tube of this goodness. I need to dedicate a post to this mascara.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – I have gone through multiple tubs of this. I use it for spot concealing or when the foundation did not cover enough of my rosacea and I need to add some more coverage for some parts of my face.

Becca Eye Brightening Corrector – I was given this by my friend as she found it did not cover her dark circles enough. I had quite high hopes for this product but I did not like it at all. It’s sticky and thick but not in a good way, it does not correct the blue circles and it makes any concealer crease which does not happen to me normally. It’s not worth the money or the effort in my opinion.

L’Oreal Nude Cushion Foundation – I have finished this quite quickly. I think I will write a separate post on this foundation so wait for my full review.

Phew, I don’t think I have ever managed to finish that many makeup products around the same time. I wonder if I bought them all around the same time and if that’s the case then maybe I should cap in my makeup hoarding….. Emmm… Yeah, not going to happen.

December Haircare Empties

This is the first instalment of empties posts that I am going to make. I have collected a lot of used up products and I want to not only get rid of them but also write up all of the posts so that I could move on writing other posts. So this is what I have finished using from Haircare:

Lee Stafford Coco Loco Shampoo – ok, so this shampoo… I thought it would be coconut scented but it is not. That was a massive disappointment number one, then it also made me feel like it did not wash my hair very well. I felt like it made my hair greasy rather than washed so honestly I hated using it. I will not purchase this ever again and I can’t believe I used it all up instead of getting rid of it.

Tresemme Botanique Conditioner – A very affordable and great conditioner. At least this one gives a little bit of that coconut scent that I look for in coconut products. I think it worked pretty well to detangle and you get a lot of product so I used it without the need to limit myself on how much product I would like to put on. Would get this one again if I would find it on an offer. (I like my bargains)

Have you guys used these products before? If so, what were your thoughts about them?

An Empty Affair – July Empties 2016

I know that we are just entering July and an empties post for the month is supposed to be at the end of it but I have been gathering some empty products packaging for a while and I just wanted to get rid of them now rather than waiting till the end of the month. Once one realises that you have rubbish gathering around your house there is nothing else I want to do as to get rid of it. So here is what I have reached the bottoms of:

Boots Build Up Removal Expert Shampoo – I have bought this one for when I need a super clarifying shampoo. I have never tried Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo so I cannot compare but this did do a good job. It’s cheap and works all right. I’m not sure if I will be buying again any time soon but if I’m on a super tight budget then I’ll give this a go again.

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil – the best cleansing oil on the market which is also very well priced. This is my second bottle that I have finished and I know it will not be a last one.

Tresemme Perfectly Undone Sea Foam – the first time I tried this product I quite liked it but I have not used it that much. I took this bottle with me on a holiday and on the way back it managed to open itself and spill all of itself in the suitcase. I must say because this has annoyed me so much I kind of not will be buying it. In my experience it is not travel friendly when I thought it would be.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix pads – I liked using them and I have moved on to it’s sister product the Extreme night version.

Jo Malone perfume in Peony & Suede – I got this as a present and appreciated very much for the memories but I must say that I do not understand the hype around Jo Malone whatsoever.  The scent fades on me in a minute and that is just a no no for me. I wear perfume so that I could smell the scent myself and if it does not stay with me then I do not see the point of it. I will not be buying or asking for Jo Malone perfumes whatsoever.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – one of my favourite bases that are affordable and really nice. Once I lower down the amount of other bases I have going I will get this again.

Yes To Coconut Hand Cream – I love coconut scented products so this went down very well. It’s a tiny bit too heavy for my liking but then I really like super quick absorbent creams and the lighter the better for me.

Maria Nila Pure Volume Shampoo – loved, loved, loved this shampoo. Need to get another bottle of this.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Oat Body Lotion – this lotion is a bit heavier than other lotions I have used before. It does take a minute or more to get absorbed but I love the scent of it. Also it was nice to have it in a pump form for quick and convenient use.

Johnson’s Baby Spray Conditioner – a great detangler for your hair. Not much to say about it apart from it’s good to pick it up if you need a detangler.

Taaj Micellar Water – I wanted to try some other micellar water and when I saw this big bottle in TKMaxx I thought here we go. It is not better than Bioderma so I will not be buying it again (saying that I paid half the price than Bioderma).

Phew! I am quite happy to have finished some products. I am trying to somehow downscale on everything so happy to get rid of some bottles and make more space. Have you guys tried any of these products?

An Empty Affair – May Empties

May has ended very quickly but I do not regret it. It has been a busy month and the end of May means I am closer to going on a holiday (first one this year). The end of month also means the end of some products and a dedicated post to them. Here is what have ended up in my ‘Empty Affair’:

Super Facialist By Una Brennan Tea Flower Deep Clean Mask – I have loved using this clay mask. I think this is the best affordable mask that does help with oil control and making skin look clean and taken care off. Once I finish a clay mask that I have currently I will be repurchasing this one for sure. It’s as good as ant high end offering.

Super Facialist By Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Daily Wash – I have enjoying using this face wash every day. I do have a review for this product that you can find here.

Muji Cream Cleanser – this is a basic no nonsense face cleanser. If I have found it when I was a bit younger I would have used it a lot. I don’t think I will buying this again just because these days I am looking for something more extra. Though, if you are on a budget and have very sensitive skin then I do think that this a good product to try.

OGX Coconut Water Conditioner – if you have read my last weeks post then you can see a little coconut theme repeating here. I liked this conditioner, I think you get a lot of product for your money and it works ok.

Vichy Purete Thermale Purifying Toner – it’s nice, non irritating toner. I have kind of got off toners for a bit but if one day I will be going back on to them then this one is a definite contender.

Bioderma – the best micellaire water! That’s all I need to say about it.

What have you guys used up in May? Do you have anything to recommend me to try next?

An Empty Affair – October Empties 2015

september empties 2015

I like to write empties post as it fits in with my clearing out craving that I have discussed recently here but it also allows me to try something new instead. Without too much introduction please see my October empties and what I thought about them:

John Frieda Beach Blonde Shampoo – I really liked this shampoo. It smells minty which is super refreshing and does a good job with cleaning your hair. I have mentioned it in my recent hair products post where you can find a little bit more about the Beach Blonde products.

Mitchum 48h stick deodorant – it’s a good deodorant. I think this brand is quite great and I do get Mitchum products quite often. The only minus for me is that this one stopped rolling up so I had quite a bit of product left without being able to use it up. I hope that I just got one that was not working rather than they all have this issue.

The Bodyshop Aloe Protective Serum – this is a serum meant for sensitive skin to try and help the skin to keep calm and not agitated. I liked it as it was light and absorbed into my skin pretty quickly. Thumbs up from me and I think it’s a good product with a very affordable price. I will be buying when The Bodyshop have some discounts or offers floating about.

CoLab Dry Shampoo in London – I really like this dry shampoo. It’s great for everyday use and I have already purchased a few different scents as I want to find out what are my favourites. I am so happy to find a dry shampoo that does not leave any white cast on my hair and you can’t really apply too much of it.

Original Source Moisturising Body Lotion in Watermelon and Jojoba oil – I had high hopes for this product and was quite disappointed. I always choose lotions over body butters as they are lighter and tend to soak up into the skin quickly but this one did not do that. I had to massage it for quite a long time until it sinked in which I am totally not down on. The smell was not that pleasant too when the lotion was on my skin and I have no idea why but I will not be getting this again. It’s just not worth it for me.

Kiko Make Up Fix Spray – this is a very affordable make up spray but it is not worth spending even a little bit of money on it. When you spray it on yourself it feels like you are spraying a hair spray on your face. I did not feel like it as it did not do anything to prolong my make up. I love a lot of Kiko products but I suggest to buy something else from them.

Ren Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Gel – a simple gentle cleanser that does not agitate your skin. It is so simple that I am not sure it is worth the price. I would rather get something from Avene or La Roche Posay and save a few pounds. But it is good so if you are thinking of getting it I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Gosh Blush in Flower Power – this is an amazing blush. It’s a beautiful matte pink that would suite a lot of skin tones. I am calling “empty” as the blush has broke on me and I can’t use it anymore without getting it all over the place. I cycle to work so on those mornings I pack up my make up to apply it once I am at work and it smashed when I was cycling. I guess this was unavoidable. If I ever run out of any other blushes then I will be repurchasing this one. It is affordable and a brilliant product worth an investment.

The Body Shop Choclate Scrub – ok, it smells like real chocolate. It was nice to use and always left me craving for real chocolate. I don’t think I will buy a full size of it but it was nice to use what I had.

Biotherm Aquasource Deep Hydrating Gel – this is a little sample that I had. The gel is so nice to use, especially in the mornings, as it is light, cooling and quickly absorbent. If I could afford a full size product I would definitely buy it.

So here you go, this is what I have used up in October month. What products have you finished using in the last month?

An Empty Affair – August Empties 2015 Part 2

I bring you the part two of my August Empties posts. I must say that it is very nice to be writing this post because this means that I can finally clear out the shelve where I was keeping all this “rubbish” and actually through it out. Now that is a very satisfactory feeling. Here is what I am binning:

Patisserie Strawberry Cupcake Hand Cream – I always keep a hand cream on my work desk. One of my previous colleagues many years ago now said that she makes sure to moisturise her hands as they are used the most therefore the ageing process is most visible on them. Since then I make sure to take care of my hands. If I look after my face then I need to take care of my hands as much.

Burt’s Bees Honey Hand Cream – unfortunately this hand cream was not one my favourites. I don’t like honey and the smell of the hand cream puts me off.

Dove Purely Pampering Hand Cream –  another hand cream. I used this a lot after climbing as I always need cream after a climbing session.

La Roche Posay Nutritic Lip Balm – this is a very nice lip balm that feels light on the lips but does a good job of moisturising them. I have another one already and it’s a great one to keep at work.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I have a post about this mascara (here) but I must say that since I have written it up I have changed my mind a little bit. At the end of using it I started liking a bit more than I originally did. I am now thinking that I should buy another tube of this and give it a second go to see what I really feel about it.

Hydraluron Moisture Gelly – a very nice day time moisturiser. I will definitely be getting this again one day.

Zara White Perfume – I do like this perfume and I like more that it does not break the bank.

Soap & Glory Ultimelt Hot Cloth Cleanser – It’s a nice hot cloth cleanser but I don’t know if I will be purchasing it again. It’s got a lot of essential oils and my sensitive skin does not like them too much. It also has some strong smell that I am not keen on. It’s nice but it’s just not meant for me.

La Roche Posay Serozinc – Need to get my hands on another bottle of this. I like to bathe myself in it and I miss it.

Dr Bronner in Bergamot – I used this soap for cleaning my brushes. It’s nice but it’s a little bit too pricey. I think I will stick to baby shampoos for washing make up brushes.

The Body Shop Honey Body Cream – I finaly used it up. As in my many posts I’m not the biggest fan of the Body Shop creams but I keep getting them as presents. The irony..

What should I get next to replace some of these products? Do you use any of them?

An Empty Affair – February Empties

Everyone who likes to blog about beauty products know that satisfying feeling when a product has been finished. It not always means that you have enjoyed using the product but it definitely means that you have a new excuse to hunt for something new. Here are some products which I have recently finished using up.

Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo – I like Dove hair products and some of them I count very highly. The shampoo wasn’t a standout, it worked well but I’ve moved on to something new now. I don’t think shampoos in general ever impress me that much so I’m not saying that this was bad or good.

L’oreal Skin Perfection Serum – I could not wait to finish this serum. I don’t know why but every time I used it at night the next day I would wake up still feeling residue on my skin. I really don’t like to feel anything in the mornings and it just makes me feel uncomfortable. I will not be getting this again.

L’oreal EverRiche Hair Mask – though my hair is not that dry I really liked using this for the ends. I actually ended up using it as a conditioner rather just a hair mask. It did not weighed my hair and made the ends of the hair soft and manageable.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – my holy grail concealer. I am already onto another tube of this goodness. I use it all over my cheeks to hide any redness that the foundation was not able to cover. It’s just a great concealer and supper affordable.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer – this was my second tube that I have gone through. I use it under my eyes and anywhere where I would like to highlight. It’s a great lightweight concealer, very easy to apply onto the skin and blend out. One day I will get this one again but for now I just want to try other things.

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo – yup, that’s right, a baby shampoo. Used up all this bottle for washing up makeup brushes.

Bodyshop Japan Adzuki Bean and Rice Scrub – I did not like this scrub. It literally was just grains without any essential oils so I did not feel like I could easily scrub my skin. Won’t be getting this again if I have to be honest with you.

Since I have taken this picture I have finished some other products so you might see an empties post coming your way pretty soon again. Have you tried any products above? If you have then let me know what are your opinions about them. And if you have any suggestions what I could replace them with then of course let me know.

An Empty Affair – January Empties

I have written an empties post not that long time ago in which I said that I don’t finish products that often but somehow I have managed to end up with more empty products. I guess that I start using all things around the same time and then I run out of them also at the same time.

I have finally finished the bliss lid+lash wash makeup remover. I liked using it and one day I might re-purchase it. If you want to find a little bit more about it then I have written a post about it here.

I’ve used Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Yes to Tomatoes Daily Clarifying Cleanser at the same time depending on how my skin was on the day. Though Cetaphil cleanser is quite good for not aggravating sensitive skin there was something in it’s texture that I did not like. I’m not sure if I would get it again, maybe only if a dermatologist would tell me that I need to get back on it. Yes to Tomatoes was a good one for when my skin was a little bit more oily on the day. It does dry out the skin a tiny bit but if you use moisturiser afterwords then there’s nothing to fair. I do have a new cleanser that I’m currently using so I don’t think I will be getting Yes one any time soon.

I have also finished Hawaiian Tropic Coconut & Papaya After Sun Lotion. I loved it! Number one – I prefer lotions to body butters as they sink in much more quickly and don’t leave any sticky residue. Number two – this particular lotion is quite cooling and feels nice on the skin not only after sun but as a general lotion as well. That’s how I have been using it anyway. It smells divine and I actually already have used half of the second bottle that I own. If you have never tried it then I highly recommend to give Hawaiian Tropic after sun lotion a go.

At work I always have a lip balm on my desk as you never know when you might need it. I had Burt’s Bees honey lip balm which obviously from this post I have gone through. Really nice lip balm but I do have a lot of other ones already therefore I’m not going to rush to get it again.

The last item that has seen it’s better days and is now counted as used up is my beloved Laura Mercier Blending Brush. This was the first brush I have ever bought and I remember I got it in Liberty London when I got my first ever make up base. (I believe it was a mineral powder foundation & a mineral powder blush.) I have had this brush for around 6 years now and it really needs to go. The bristles have become quite scratchy and even if I clean the brush it just looks and feels quite tired. I must say that Laura Mercier brushes are really good and they will last you for a really long time just like this one has lasted me six years. It’s sad to see it go but that’s just life…

Have you finished anything recently? Would you like to share your empty products with me? Drop me a comment and I will make sure to check it out.

An Empty Affair – November Empties

Today I bring you another empty products post. I don’t finish products that often as I like to change and swap quite often but today I have a few which are waiting to be binned. With no further a due here they are:

Maybelline Brow Drama – I’ve had it in a shade dark brown which I thought was quite a good colour match for me. I’m planning to make a brow product post some time soon so I won’t go into too much of a review here. I had it for quite a while and used it nearly every single day until I got something else. Definitely recommend trying this one if you never tried coloured brow setting gel.

Carrying on with the brows I have also finished a brow pencil from Mac in the shade Spiked. I think this is the best brow pencil I have used so far. I like that it has a tiny nib and you just need to twist the packaging to get more product out. (You can’t twist it back down so don’t get too much out at one time as otherwise you will break the nib and will loose some product.) I am currently using an Eylure pencil for my brows and also want to get my hands on the Soap & Glory brow pencil so I might do a post on all of these brow pencils one day. I prefer pencils to powders as it’s easier to work with and for me the pencils give more of a natural result rather than powders do.

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot – has been my go to powder for quite a bit. Just after I got it I was super in love with it and did not look to any other setting powders. However, just when I hit the pan on it I kind of got bored so it will not going to come back into my stash any time soon. Good powder, definitely worth trying it if you haven’t yet.

The Body Shop body moisturiser – this one used to be the Satsuma scented one. Used this one up and I don’t think I will be repurchasing it. I find the Body Shop moisturisers a little bit too thick in consistency for my liking as well as a bit too pricey for what they actually are.

Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara – I’ve heard quite a bit of hype about this mascara but it did not impress me. It did not do anything to my lashes which would make me say “oh yes! this is super good!”. I don’t think I will ever get it again.

Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm – I’ve got this one when I went to Nice and quite enjoyed it. It’s a good one to carry with yourself around the town and does not feel too greasy on the lips. I’ve already have another one with me.

These are the products that I have finished. Have you tried any of them? Do you have any replacement suggestions?

Winter in a Dream

One out, one in #1

One in, one out… Is the concept I try to go by and at which I normally miserably fail.  Use one product up and replace it with another one whilst trying not to buy three similar things as well.

This time I finished using La Roche Posay Physiological cleansing gel and have replaced it with Cetaphil cleanser. I really enjoyed using the Physiological gel and I feel like my skin quite liked it too. Not only that it is made for sensitive skin but also works well for combination skin. It felt quite cooling and non greasy which is what you want when you have rosacea with combination skin. Maybe one day I will get it again but this time I did replace it with something else as it’s always interesting to try something new.  The new thing in my bathroom stash is Cetaphil. I got it from the chemist as I’ve heard a lot about it how it is prescribed by doctors for people that have bad skin problems. I really looked forward on trying it out with the hope that it might make big difference to my skin but I must say… I don’t really like it. Not sure why but I’m not a massive fan of the texture. It feels a little bit gritty though I can’t see why it would and actually does feel like it would suit more of the dry skin peeps than combination ones.

One in, one out… And another one to help me go through the one I don’t really like.

What do you guys do? Do you try to finish a product before buying another one or do you buy few in one go?
